App redesign - revised workflow

Original plan:

My original workflow I created for my app is a bit confusing due to the pages within the app, some of which are a bit unnecessary. After this workflow even more pages were added which again could've been considered unnecessary so I need to identify which pages I do not need within the app and then I can begin to revise my plan and recreate a workflow that is easy to understand.
From analysing my app in the walkthrough post I made, I decided that I would either remove the glossary page, or the news page. After reading a crit of my former app, feedback from that said that they found the glossary really helpful and thought that it would continue onwards the aim to educate users. From this, I have decided that the news page is not needed, and if the user wanted to continue onwards to read news stories they could go and find them themselves. This means there will be one less page and icon at the bottom of the screen.

New workflow:

I realised while prototyping the first workflow that there were a few flaws and I needed to add in icons at the bottom of the screen to assist in navigation. I recorded the new workflow to see if there were any flaws in the workflow and navigation too.

Problems I encountered during the prototyping process

  • glossary button needs a checkbox. as clicking it does not take you to the page, there will need to be an indication to show that the action has happened
  • results need something to indicate a CTA (call to action). As the results section is spread over 2 screens, the user will need something to indicate they need to move to the next slide. could use an arrow
  • party profile needs a back button. this back button actually should be applied to every section of the app in case the user wants to go back at any point, especially in the quiz. This wouldn't apply at the results section as they do not want to go back at the end, they instead could retake the quiz.
  • manifestos and register to vote buttons need a click through link to the appropraite websites
  • party profile and profile list combine. I don't think I need 2 separate screens for this as they are the same layout. Instead, the list will reorder depending on the users answers.
  • glossary needs a scroll bar, or have the text peaked (to show the list extends over the screen
  • need an option to change constituency (based on GPS location)
  • change party option on party profile list indicator (button?? this will then change the colour scheme)
  • your values list peak text

General thoughts

  • what info to include on party page? look at isidewith for inspiration
  • how will the changing colour scheme plan be implemented??
  • do I need icons at the bottom of the screen if the user can just navigate to home and then the appropriate section easily?
