a tape for pre drinks
a tape of motivation
a tape for chilling
a tape for inevitable all nighters
The idea is that the students from Leeds College of Art would be asked to pick their favourite songs for each tape - so the mixtape is made by students for students.
The design comes into the appearance of the mixtapes - physical booklets/ CD covers - and digital artwork for online music, eg Spotify, Youtube, iTunes artwork.
2. Material for a freshers event, eg a mixer between Leeds College of Art and Leeds College of Music to help students be more social and find friends during the start of university.
centered on a chosen theme
promotional material could include
posters
flyers
tickets
wristbands
event graphics (supergraphics) for decoration
3. an interactive board game (based on the Game of Life/ Snakes and Ladders) about uni life - based on personal experiences and including tips and helpful advice
The aim of the game is to reach the end of the board before your opponent. The game would be set up like a snakes and ladders style game but without the actual snakes and ladders - instead the moving back and forwards would be commanded using the rolls of a dice and cards. The square you land on depends on which type of card to pick up. There will be 3 sets of cards, rewards, forfeits and tips.
Tips
"If you are feeling stressed or struggling with mental health, speak to someone. Here are some helplines and numbers to call" - important as many students struggle with mental health problems
Rewards
"Congratulations! You got a first in your last hand in. Celebrate with a beer and move forward two spaces."
Forfeits
"One too many steins in Bierkeller and you've managed to fall off a table and concuss yourself. Go back 3 spaces (and probably to A&E too)."
Design wise the game will have a heavy focus on typography and colour too as it is a board game which are meant to be fun and enticing to play. Potential design direction would be illustration, illustrating parts of the game and maybe for Leeds too to make the game more focused on the graphics students. Physically we will need to produce a board game, a box to keep it in, potential instruction booklet, playing cards and counters/dice to go along with the game.
