The catalog for MESH relies on the pixelated imagery created earlier on in the project as well as our map/postcode theme. Printed on A2 paper, the front cover contains the postcode map as well as the our logo in the bottom right corner and the venue information at the top. Unfolded, the catalog becomes a poster. The relevant information about the event is also contained along with the long logo - and a full version of a pixellated print is the main feature. The print changes from catalog to catalog - the plan is to have 5 versions.
The mao and information section is in white at the top of the print - this will be screenprinted over a digital print - leaving room for the colour of the print below to show through the map. This means that each version will vary in colour.
The catalog can be hung up as posters - the pixellated prints look great displayed along with the map and logo/ exhibition info. We will have a few of these hanging up around the exhibition as well as catalogs to hand out to show people that it can be used as a memorable poster too.
For the actual catalog we wanted something that wouldn't just be a plain regular grid. We arranged the prints on the back so that the higher the frequency of prints in one postcode, the bigger the square. this extended to a lower number of prints in a postcode, the more negative space around the preview. this allowed us to reflect the postcode theme into the catalog as well as providing a more interesting reading experience.
