- poster
- 3d outcome
- animation (to go with music?)
- product to help anxiety sufferers
The outcome could possibly be used in the event of an anxiety attack, to ground sufferers and provide relief, mirroring the ambient genre.
sculpture
Looking at my initial ideas, the use of spacing within type could be combined with the 3D element of sculpture.
Using the word 'breathe' as a test due to its relation to anxiety and space, the sculpture could be created out of acrylic or wood and laser cut and constructed into the word. Creating 3D letters in the form of a sculpture could represent this well, mirroring the idea of the music using space in its composition. Also fixing the letters at different places along the width of the board can reflect the layers and space elements of ambient music.
animation
An animation could also be created to use in the event of a panic attack. Using the technique of calm breathing (sometimes called “diaphragmatic breathing”) is a technique that helps you slow down your breathing when feeling stressed or anxious.
Breathing in for 4 seconds, holding for 2 and releasing for 4 seconds again can help to oxygenate your body and calm your breath and heart rate. Creating an animation using this structure and reflecting this in the way the type moves could be useful to help bring sufferers out of an anxious episode, especially if the animation was readily available on an app of some sort.
Poster
A more easily accessible and readily available outcome is a typographic poster, which can be used to look at when being stressed - eg it would be placed in a working environment. The purpose of the poster would be to ground an individual and remind them to relax, and as a poster is fairly commonplace this reflects the idea of having something ignorable yet interesting.
