External Collab - editorial design research

METHOD

Devin Pedzwater Method for designing Vanity Fair
when he started there was no set design structure
pulled fonts down from 15-20 to just Didot, VF sans with VF Times. Other detail fonts eg Solano. Created 90% magazine from just these.
Colour guide. 32 colours.
Grid system. 12 column grid across whole magazine.

STYLE INSPIRATION
I collected some style inspiration for the overall style of the magazine. In the initial meeting we discussed that the style should be quite girly and feminine, as the magazine is tailored towards women, we wanted to make women still feel like they could be feminine with IBS.

These examples of front covers use photography as the main design element, coupled with serif typefaces for the name of the magazine and titles/subtitles. The photography is feminine, using a typically feminine colour scheme of pink, peach and red in 2 of these examples.
