Internal Collab - photo shoot

For our photoshoot we wanted to get photos of models with a pad over their mouth signifying that they are stifled from talking about their periods. This was a our reference picture:

We wanted to recreate this effect in our shoot - using the same aspect that the reference model has been photographed in too - head and shoulders.
For the shoot we sourced models from LUU LGBT+ society's facebook page, by posting on the page:

We booked a photo studio at uni and enlisted the help of Meg Banner, a photographer on L6 fashion photography who has helped us before in projects.

For the shoot, we had previously sourced coloured backdrops to go behind each model. We used 3 lights to light the models and took the photos at a wider angle, including the edges of the paper, so that we could crop into the picture, and make each model the same head height etc.
We used Hannah as our first model, who we used as more of a test to get the style of photos we wanted for the campaign. We had bought pantyliners with us as well as tampons, which we used in experimentation. To vary the photographs we thought we could try having the model have the tampon in their mouth, to get across the same concept that periods were not talked about, however we realised that the pad worked better. We continued on this concept throughout all our models.
