The overall design of my leaflet is fairly simple. Most pages of text have the same theme, encased in a box. I have used Bebas Neue as the title text and **** as the body text. I decided to use sans serif as the booklet contains a lot of text, so will make it easier to read.
The background colour for the pages of my leaflet are taken from my colour swatch - I wanted the colours to be used throughout the book instead of just shown and analysed.
The layout of my leaflet meant that I had to design 2 separate sides to the leaflet. On the inside I decided to put most of the text so this meant including the 100 words on RGC, CMYK and Pantone, 250 words on Josef Albers as well as the 500 words on the use of colour in graphic design.
RGB and CMYK/ Pantone
This page was one of my favourites as the additional designs on the page reflect the subject cleverly. The coloured lines running down the middle of the page are in Red, Green, Blue and Cyan Magenta Yellow and Key (black), the colours for each of these acronyms. The title for pantone is in a white box which then separates into smaller squares across the page to represent paint swatches and the squares in which Pantone shades are presented. These elements add to the page instead of just lines of text. The background of the page is a light grey to allow text and the designs to stand out against it.
Josef Albers
This page is fairly simple, with the text enclosed in a box. The title is placed above to the left and in Bebas Neue - a bold font which goes well with the style of the box as well as the sans serif type of the body text. The text is white in order to stand out against the peach colour - taken from the swatch.
Colour in design
This page spans the length of two pages - it was easier to have this as a lengthy piece of text instead of having it spanning with width of two pages. This as well of the simplicity of the text against the light blue makes the piece easier to read.
Photo and swatch
The photo I wanted to do something different with it instead of just putting a rectangle over the swatched section. I manipulated the photo using Photoshop, where I chose to move the individual section so it was no longer in line wit the rest of the photo. This adds emphasis to the section and allows people to easily see where the colours come from. The swatch is laid out underneath it in rectangles - I did not order these colours just placed them as I swatched them.
The back of the leaflet contains the 250 words on Klein Blue as well as the 6 examples of it used in design, and the visual analysis of my chosen swatch.
Colour analysis
One page of this contains my swatch arranged in a rainbow order with groups of colours identified and described using square brackets. Again Bebas Neue is used here to describe the colours and the boldness of them coupled with the brackets and dark grey backround makes a really big impact. I couldn't use a colour from my swatch for this background as the entire swatch is displayed on this page, so the chosen colour would get lost into the background. The next page along demonstrates my chosen colour swatch in arrangements similar to Albers' homage to the square, alongside the effect the arrangements have on the colours.
Klein Blue
The Klein Blue pages have the same theme. with bordering boxes in the iconic blue colour, all the information is contained inside in identifiable sections, making it easy to red and follow.
Printed booklet
Using a Stanley knife I cut out the holes in the front leaflet that would show the swatch through from the inside and stuck the sheets back to back using spray mount.
Due to the thickness of the paper, the booklet didn't fold in the way it was meant to and the paper tore on the outer folds.
