Once I had decided that this would be the general style for my app, I made little tweaks to the design to provide the finished design. I did this by changing the type on the buttons, from capitals to title case text, this made the buttons look less harsh and just made the appearance more professional overall. Then I added effects to the gradient sections - including a blur which was not successful and a drop shadow to give the screen a bit of depth.
