Display Wizard - my LAU experience

In my time at LAU I have really built my skills within graphic design. By attending workshops both mandatory and voluntary I have been able to extend my skills within the software I need to use, as well as gotten the opportunity to work on new and exciting briefs set by visiting professionals. Having visiting professionals come in to network with us has been valuable as we have been able to gain expert advice into the industry. The range and calibre of visiting professionals has been high quality as well, allowing us to learn about all aspects of the industry as well as expand our knowledge and interest in other related areas. This is down to events such as Creative Networks and Creative Convos as well as visits organised within the course. I have found talks like these interesting, especially a talk with Liv Siddall from It's Nice That last year, as well as a talk with Christopher Moorby this year in the Creative Convos event.
At university I have made some good friends from many courses, I have found it beneficial to have these friends as well as peers on my course as they all can provide their input and give feedback into my own work which has influenced many projects greatly. I have also found them to be very supportive. A bonus of the university is that it is quite small so the Student Union is able to be more personal with the students, visiting class to class when needed which allows them to have a greater impact
The facilities at the university are amazing, including the photography studios which I have used in projects, the facilities also include woodwork and laser cutters etc which I have also used.
The new building in particular has been great to work in and spend time in in the last few months, with new environments etc, a definite improvement on the old building. Impressive to me about the university is its commitment to sustainability which is obviously a growing vital issue. The fact the uni commits to recycling so much of its waste and has a dedicated team helping to acheive their sustainability goals is amazing.
Overall, I have loved the university experience, despite it being stressful I have really developed my skills and abilities and grown in confidence.

To expand on my opinion of my time at LAU, I wanted to get a more holistic opinion. I asked some of my peers about their time at LAU and why they were glad they chose to study here.

- Creative connections to alumni/professionals

- a large range of different facilities/resources we can use
