Display Wizard - evaluation

Overall I am happy with my designs created for the Display Wizard competition. After researching into previous winners, and using considerations from this research in my designs, I am satisfied that mine is held to the same standard, if not higher than the previous winning designs. I created designs that had a strong rationale to them, using the concept of gold standard which was inspired by the awards the university has won, as well as the gold elements on the new extension of the university. The design itself features photography of gold fabric, which was taken and unused in a previous project. I thought that recycling old pictures from this project would suit the style I was aiming for, and as the previous project was also promotion/marketing for Leeds Arts University, the projects are closely linked. This could be a problem as this brief could be seen as part of the other, however I have still decided to use this design as it meets the criteria for the competition, has a strong solid rationale behind it and was executed well. As I decided that this competition brief was only to be a short one I think by recycling the photos I have cut down the timeframe needed to complete this brief significantly.
The rest of the design follows a monochrome colour palette, which allows the gold to stand out and be the primary design feature. Branding for Leeds Arts University is also implemented across the designs, as the logo is included as well as the typeface Garamond which the university uses across their website and promotional materials. I could not use the other typeface that LAU use as I do not own it, which was disappointing as it would have tied in the banner and stand well with all other promotional material produced and used by LAU.
I also feel I have presented the designs well, by mocking them up into the relevant stands, the designs really come to life.
