We showed the photos from the shoot that we had done the previous night and these were well met.
- Diversity is important so show multiple models/size/shape/ethnicity if possible
- Photos look amazing. The fabric photographs really well, good we got an actual photographer to take the pictures as they look professional.
- Concept is well developed - the pictures on a plinth look the best. This adds to the idea of us 'presenting' and 'exhibiting' the students
- Carry on the ‘gallery’ look with the type, either type on a plaque/label, or take the qualities of type from there and apply it.
- Good to represent foundation too.
- Don’t use the photos with 2 models as it looks inappropriate
Hannah and I took this feedback back to the group and considered it while pushing on with our designs. The point we found the most interesting was the idea of continuing on the gallery effect with the plaque or label effect for the text. Hannah had some existing reference images that she had taken when visiting galleries in the past.
We attempted to show this in some of our poster designs. In the designs, we either copied the visuals of a gallery label, whether this is through typeface, layout or placement on the page (fig 1) or we tried to add a label into the design in the form of a box.
From these experiments, we liked the text with a surrounding box as opposed to the text on top of a white box, so the label is "clear" and represented by the enclosing box. We also liked the style of the label spanning the width of the page at the bottom, but this detracted from the impact of the photo. We decided to not use this idea in our final poster designs, and instead, choose another design.
