Coffee Table books
Coffee table books are largely for aesthetic purposes as opposed to practical. The subject matter of the books tends to be pictoral or illustrative and do not feature much or very little text. This style would suit the lookbook well in this way due to a large number of pictures in the book, however as the book needs to have a driving informative element to encourage readers to shop second hand, more text will need to be involved. The main design feature of the coffee table book that is influencing my initial thoughts on the design is the high quality of the finished product. As coffee table books are made for display purposes, to add to the decor of a room, they tend to be clean and elegant with the focus on the content.
Minimalism
Minimalist styles suit products which feature large photographic elements. The simple way of displaying text and pictures let the content speak for itself and also uses white and negative space to its advantage.
Fashion magazines
Fashion magazines will be a large influence on the aesthetics of my book. Fashion magazines can tend to be cluttered and chaotic with lifestyle elements in for example Cosmopolitan. Higher end fashion magazines such as Vogue and Harper's Bazaar, whilst still being higher end are still packed with fashion and other articles, and while still being cluttered veer away from the often cheap and tacky appearance of lower end magazines.
