For this experiment I broke up the filler lines to stop the layout looking cramped. However this removed the effect of the lines looking like a electrical current - I think the connected lines work better. Inspired by my excel drawings created earlier on in the brief, I added a pattern which looks similar to a circuit into the poster to fill odd area of white space which looked effective but slightly out of place given the lack of pattern anywhere else in the poster.
To fix this I added the same pattern into other parts of the poster, making it look more consistent. I also shortened the original pattern above.
Final layout plus filler lines -
Another main feature was the pictoral elements. As visual cues needed to be given to help people identify shape and fitting of bulbs, I needed to find a way to display this. In my mock ups I used photographs but decided to create icons instead. I created a series of icons for the shape and fitting section of the guide, using an 8x8 grid to keep them all consistent. I also repeated mutual features throughout most of the bulbs which links all the icons together.
